80 acres of Ranch Land about 1 hour drive from San Jose, CA
Reduced to only $125,000 !!!
Please make sure that you click on both "Photos of the Property" and "360 Degrees Views" tabs at the top of this page for additional information.
Are you concerned that paper money is going to loose value with massive injections of trillions of new dollars into the economy?
Do you want to own an investment you can also enjoy? Wouldn't it be nice to own 80 Acres Ranch just a short drive from a major metropolitan area where sub-acre lots sell for a million dollars? Here is something you may want to consider:
80 Acres (3.5 million square feet!) of beautiful hills with breath taking views, with over 1300 feet of highway frontage (Designated Scenic Highway 130). Electric power lines, telephone lines and seasonal river are also on the property. Excellent cellphone reception (Verizon). The property has Highway 130 frontage. There is also a dirt road on part of the property.
The land is currently designated as agricultural under Williamson act, which means yearly taxes around $100. Enjoy hiking, horseback riding, driving ATVs etc or whatever you like doing. The land can be buildable - check your plans with Santa Clara County office for more information and conditions. Excellent weekend get away - plenty of privacy. Would be a great place to raise lamas, alpacas, goats, horses, cows or other animals. There is a variety of financing options and tax breaks to support farming.
The neighbors use their properties in a variety of ways - some live year-round and drive to work to San Jose, some have weekend trailers or houses, some graze animals and others just ride horses or off-road vehicles. In any case you get plenty of privacy and unless you know where to find your neighbors, all you see around is hundreds of acres of a wild and pristine land.
Unlike many hills in the Bay Area which turn into yellow desert-like views during the summer, this area is quite green all year long (the pictures on the Views From the Hilltop tab above were taken during the summer).
In a straight line the property is only about 20 miles from Downtown San Jose. I timed the property to be 1h and 10 minutes from downtown San Jose 87/280 intersection (31 miles actual driving distance), or 1h from East San Jose. This is driving fast in a small car so your time may vary. If you are not familiar with the area please drive slowly and carefully as the road is winding and narrow in places. But there are very few cars on this road at any time so no traffic jams :-)
The property is priced at $125,000 instead of $12 million for two reasons - first you need to enjoy driving on a scenic winding mountain road to get there, second it's not a flat parcel you can subdivide into several hundred lots and build a new subdivision on it. But if you love land, love outdoors and have a drop of wild blood to try something fun for a very reasonable price, it could be for you.
The Santa Clara County records list this parcel as San Jose, CA 95140 address.
The parcel number is APN 070-10-052.
Make sure that you click on both "Photos of the Property" and "360 Degrees Views" tabs at the top of this page for additional information.
On the map below, feel free to click on the Satellite view, zoom in and out and move around the map. The red marker is the actual location of the property.
Google Street View works for this area, so you can drag the "Little person" showing in Google maps into the highway 130 and look around the area.
How to get there
If you plan to go there, please make sure that you print this page and take it with you.
You can get there driving highway 130 - e.g. from highway 680 take Alum Rock/130 exit, turn right at Mt. Hamilton, keep driving (130 leads all the way to the property). Once you are at the top of Mount Hamilton (passing the Observatory) make a note of the mileage, drive down until you cross a small bridge, after bridge cross cattle guard (pipes across the highway), look for the gate at 36000 San Antonio Valley Road, which is is 6.9 miles (about 15 min) from the top. At that point the power lines cross the highway and there are driveways to both left (36000) and right (another property, do not enter there).
If you use a GPS latitude of that point is approximately 37.356649933447606, longitude -121.56769037246704.
Here is the neighbor's address for cutting and pasting into Google maps or in your GPS to find the route or driving distance to the property, use it exactly as below:
36000 San Antonio Valley Road, Santa Clara, 95140 CA.
Please note that Google map addresses are very inaccurate in this area, they are off (show to the left/West of the real location) by about 1500 yards. So once in the area, ignore Google and ignore your GPS, look for the number 36000 and for a gate on your left.
You can park at the gate numbered 36000 and explore the left/North side. The dirt road behind the gate splits at a fork, you need to turns right, where the dirt road enters my property and goes up the hill. Make sure that when going up that hill you see and walk (tothe left) an area recently cleared by a bulldozer. Next, come back to the car and start driving East.
When you continue to drive (or walk) East from the gate 36000 on the San Antonio Road (highway 130), my property starts after a small pond on the right side and extends for over 1300 feet up to a sharp right turn. Right behind the turn there is a gate 37370 - another neighbor's property. See the second map (photocopy) below for the shaded rectangle which corresponds to the property.
About half way through my property, after a cement barrier on the right, there is a path cleared by a bulldozer which goes south (to the right side) with a No Trespassing sign.
You can park at cleared path to explore the right/South side. The cleared path leads to the highest peak on the property which is about in a middle of the south side and gives a good view of the area.
But you do not have a permission to drive vehicles on the property (off highway) nor walk/hike it without contacting me first and getting a permission to walk. But you are welcome to see it from the highway at any time and without contacting me.
There are For Sale By Owner signs along the property, with a www.80acres.weebly.com written on them.
